We weren’t here for the pasta but as sides go it’s certainly a statement.  Wishbone is the work of food writer William Leigh and the people behind Meatliquor.

The Bull and Last - Highgate Road, NW5

OK so I'm probably a bit late to the game here but I've been meaning to try out the Bull and Last for a while.  I love a scotch egg so I'm always looking for an excuse to try a new one and following a walk round Highgate Cemetery we knew where to go.

The Scotch egg was pretty good actually; nicely cooked egg, runny yolk, well seasoned meat, crisp crumb coating.  I was pretty pleased overall and would definitely be raving about them if I hadn't tried the trotter won tons as well.

Fish Stock (or what I found in the freezer)

I often buy too much food; markets are like crack to me, I buy stuff that looks good and end up throwing it in the freezer hoping someday I'll get round to using it up.

Six months ago on a trip to the coast we bought some fantastic fish.  Fabulous fresh Gurnard, some crab, some prawns, it hung around for a couple of days in the fridge but before the point of no return rather than waste it I froze it all.
