Not so new kid on the block - Nath the Butcher

I love going to the butchers, when I shop I like to buy the meat first and then form everything else around that. It’s pretty simple, see what they’ve got then use it as best you can...

I first met Nath about a year ago now when he was at Barbecoa and quite by chance I’ve been using his services where ever he moved since then. When I found out he was opening up shop on his own I donned my special geek t-shirt and went to have a chat:

How not to do does Bangkok...

We arrived at night; it was dark, hot, and very sticky. We jumped in a taxi at the airport and were driven toward Bangkok at break neck speed...

We sat in a silence; reaching for seatbelts that weren’t there, the beginnings of mild panic in the air both stamping on the invisible floor brake as we weaved in and out of traffic. Looking out the window I was sure I could see giant bats following us but we arrived at our hotel; alive and elated that we’d survived!

How not to do does Melbourne...

I got dozens of recommendations before I headed out to Melbourne. I did literally minutes of research to find out where the cool places were...

I forgot one thing though, quite a big thing to forget really, it was Christmas. If you are a restaurateur or own a cool bar in Melbourne it seems you shut up shop for a couple of weeks and fuck off out of the city.

Getting drunk on a bus in the Yarra Valley...

It was Christmas Eve and we’d been in Australia for ten hours by the time we were picked up in Melbourne. I was confused, exhausted but really quite excited by the prospect of spending a day drinking wine.

“I don’t much like wine” explained our driver Murray as he drove us out of the city towards the Yarra Valley. Even through my jetlag I knew this wasn’t what you’d normally expect a wine guide to say…

Back in the Office

So we went away for Christmas and the New Year to Australia and Thailand. Normal Service will resume shortly once I've worked out what day it is and the jetlag subsides. Hope you all had a great break; in the meantime look at the lovely Seagull; we fed it chips!
